Leo’s Restaurant in Fenton, Michigan

Woman named Carol came up to me and out-of-the-blue asked for prayer.

I was at Leo’s Restaurant in Fenton, waiting for an appointment. A lady named Carol came up to me and asked if I was an attorney. I said, “I have been called worse… laughingly.” Then she asked, “Are you a minister of God?”  I smiled and said, “Yes!”  Then she asked me to pray for her without telling me what to pray for her.

I said to her, “Sit down and we will pray right now.” So then I prayed for her without knowing she needed from God. Then, after we prayed, she said, “I was right on what she needed prayer for.” Then she got up and left.

We must trust and obey our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ whenever his individuals in the earth cross our paths. Here without knowing what she needed intercessory prayer for from God, I immediately, not making a list of requested prayers, and then praying when I had time for these intercessory needs of individuals from God.

We should all do the same any time someone crosses our path to intercede for them or someone else.

Water for Dog

It was a hot summer day in August 2021, and I was at a gas station.  I was sitting in a car and a young woman approach me.  She had two large dogs on a leach.  She needed water for her dogs.   I gave her bottled water for her thirsty pets. She appreciated the water.  It appeared she did not have money on her.

God wants us to help all his created creatures big and small.  At Cities of Hope Ministries we respond to those who have a need in any way.

Jay and Princess

On Sunday August 8th, 2021, we were at Speedway Gas Station on Dort Highway. After watching a homeless man and his dog, asking for change from individuals that were going into the gas station store, the Holy Spirit directed me to offer to help him.  So, I asked him, who turned out to be Jay, if I could help him.  We went into the store and I told him to get whatever he wanted.  He selected some items to eat and beef jerky for his dog Princess that he left tied up outside while we went into the store. He was appreciative to receive some things to eat for himself and his dog Princess. While we were inside, one of the attendants brought Princess some water in a cup.  We must all that are followers of Jesus Christ listen to the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit directs our steps to help one another.

Homeless Woman Needs Gas to pick up her children

Speedway is a great gas station! On July 20th, 2021, we were at Speedway gas station on Dort Highway in Flint, and while we were pumping gas a homeless woman came over and asked if we could help with a few dollars of gas. So I asked her why she needed the gas. She told us that the reason is she was going to pick up her children and did not want to run out of gas. So, we asked what her name was. Her name was Ashley.  The Holy Spirit directed Emily to fill up her tank with gas as a gift. It is a good idea to pay things forward when we are in need ourselves. So like Emily that has many needs, she listened to the Holy Spirit to help this mother in need. As I was filling up her tank, I gave Ashley a ministry card and told her that Emily was filling up her tank for her. She was greatly appreciative of receiving a full tank of gas and said “God bless you” to us. I said if you need anything else or know of anyone who has a need of anything else, please call us.

It is important that all of us see each other in this world as brothers and sisters.  And when someone in need crosses our path, we should consult the Holy Spirit to see what He wants us to do.

Story of Erica Jex and Family Receiving Salvation

On June 17th, 2021, while at breakfast with David Allen Codie at Leo’s Coney Island in Fenton, Michigan, a waitress took us to our table. I told her she had a great smile under her mask. She was giggling and all of a sudden I realized that I knew her. Her name was Bailey. So, after eating breakfast with my brother-in-Christ, I went to the men’s room. When I arrived back to my table, David had left without my knowledge.

So I was getting ready to leave and the Holy Spirit told me that He wanted me to stay. It was because I needed to minister to another waitress that came up to my table when David Allen Codie was there. She told me with tears in her eyes that she was single mother with two daughters and did not know what to do. She told me her name was Erica and gave her phone number.

So I did not leave on the advice of the Holy Spirit and called the waitress named Bailey. I asked Bailey if she knew Erica. She told me they were friends and they worked together at Leo’s.

I asked Bailey if she could call Erika to my table and she did. When Erica came to my table, she still had tears in her eyes. So I asked her, if she were to die tonight, did she know where she would go?

She answered, “No.” So I asked her if she would like to know for sure. She said, “Yes.” I asked her if we could pray together at the table. She said, ”Yes.” I asked her she could bow her head and close her eyes and repeat after me.

Lord Jesus, I thank you for a personal faith and that you are the Son of God, and my Lord and my Savior. I believe that you died, you were buried, and you rose on the third day. And because I believe it, I am born again. As you receive me Jesus, I receive you. In Jesus Name Amen.

When she open her eyes. I told her, Erica, Today, salvation has come to you and your daughter’s home.

After approximately a week, I came back to Leo’s Restaurant in Fenton, Michigan and Erica was there. She thanked me and told me her testimony that her ex-boyfriend, the father of her daughter’s was communicating with her. They were beginning to reason together about building a family. I mentioned to her that if they decide to enter into a wedding covenant, that I would be honored to perform their wedding ceremony should she and her boyfriend agree to enter into a covenant of Holy Matrimony.

She then asked me, “Does our ministry Cities of Hope Ministries, do anything for birthdays[GVP1]  ?” Her two daughters JoAnne and Jaana had birthdays coming up. I said that I would look into it and consult the board of directors to see what they could do. But she needed to text me with their names and birth dates. She did and then after the board agreed, I delivered two birthday gifts for her daughters and gift for her that was a Bible from Cities of Hope Ministries.

As a ministry, we provide for the needs of many individuals and families.

Car Trouble

On July 24, I went to lunch with a sister-in-Christ at Paul’s Coney Island, Burton, Michigan.  At approximately 1:28 pm, as I was entering the restaurant, a man named John looked at me, and I asked him, “Can I help you?” He said he was looking for jumper cables to jump start his car. I said, “I don’t have any.” So he went into the restaurant after me. I saw him inside and asked him, “Did you find jumper cables from anyone?” He told me that he did not. So I asked individuals in the restaurants if they had any jumper cables.  They politely told me no. Then I went to the owner, Fred, and asked, “Do you have any jumper cables?” He said he did not have any. So I asked an employee whose name is Ash, and he stated, “I have jumper cables in my car. I will go get them for you.”

So I told John that he would need a car to jump his battery and that I would go and help him. So, I went and pulled my car next to his car and opened the hood to jump his car. He introduced me to his mom Sharon who was sitting in his car waiting and I politely said hello.

While we were jumping the battery in John’s car, he was so appreciative.  A sister-in-Christ Emily came out to see how we were progressing. We were having trouble so Emily prayed and the car started. God did it!.God cares about every aspect of our lives. Then I told him, as I gave him one of my ministry cards, that Cities of Hope Ministries is a ministry of help.
